My Approach
My passion, brought about through my own values and personal experiences, is to help people and teams to bring energy to what they do through clear purpose. I help individuals and teams bring real clarity and focus on why they are here. I help them to be able to tell their story authentically and meaningfully based on who they are and to make choices and take actions that move them forward. With leadership and action aligned to purpose, goal setting and results become an intrinsic part of their future.
I do this by blending my passions for coaching, leadership, marketing, music making and delivering impact. For me, this about embedding confidence through purpose, clarity, fulfilment, and results.
Why This Matters To Me
After nearly 20 years as Vice President of Marketing in technology companies, of different scale, size and stages of growth I often have reflected on an analogy that is very personal to me.
Playing Drums in Band. Why ?
One of my great passions in life is music, playing drums in particular, and following some of the world’s best rock drummers. I have had the good fortune to be able to continue to live out my passion for playing drums by playing in a band, gigging regularly for over 10 years. – whilst continuing to lead a busy life as a VP, travelling and working with teams around the world.
The lessons I have learnt in my career and as a leader, musician and coach, have helped to serve me, the people and teams I’ve worked with - with a fundamental belief that it all starts with clear purpose….
I have spent time with coaches during my career, and through those experiences I have brought the principles of purpose and values based leadership to myself and the teams I have worked with. By reaching across a broad range of roles and seniorities, I discovered that not only does this help to bring much needed clarity into a way of being and what is done, but that it also inspires new levels of teamwork and energy for results that matter.
In 2020, when the pandemic changed everything for everyone, I realised that I wanted to expand my passion by dedicating my time to helping leaders, individuals and teams to thrive everywhere. I found I was spending more and more of my time in coaching and mentoring to help people find new paths, break out of old habits, discover new ways to make an impact, and to really understand their next steps. This is what I bring to my coaching practice.
What Qualifies Me ?
I am trained to be a coach by the Coactive Training Institute, the most highly regarded Coach training school in the world, and regularly coach using this methodology.
I am an award-winning Marketing Leader with over 20 years’ experience in delivering global and regional successes in my roles as Vice President, Marketing for leading technology brands. My career has been defined by leading teams, building operations through transformation and with a relentless focus on results.
Throughout, my work is characterised by inspiring and accelerating change, leading small and large teams to solve programme, organisational, technology and functional challenges, delivering impact for the business.
Why “PurposeRocks” ?
One of those names that just connects some key principles.
Purpose, our reason to exist, is something that we all need. A must have, a key ingredient, that is so often missing.
It can be on a ‘life’ scale, but equally for the things we know we want to do in our lives but have never taken the time to really understand what they really are. No matter how big, or how small they might be.
I have worked with leaders, individuals and teams who have it clear for themselves, and those that have not.
The difference is stark. While not always obvious at first, the absence of purpose leaks direction, energy, decisions and choices away. Whilst those with clear purpose are energised, take action and get results.
That’s why it is such a foundation. And that foundation is made up of rocks, individual rocks that together form core and strength from which to work. Those rocks are the values, the beliefs, the strengths and the nuances that make up the character of the individual or the team working together.
And finally, the rock metaphor finally carries into my love of music, and rock music in particular. To rock, and to rock the world. Why not !
